Top Ten Twin Names: Ella & Emma
Ella … its meaning is " other; foreign" - Think Baby Names
Emma … its meaning is "entire; universal" - Think Baby Names
I am working through a series on the Top Ten baby names chosen for twins. The most recent statistics available are the twin names chosen in 2007.
Number five on the list are the baby names Ella and Emma. They are both of Old German origin, and they have both been on the charts since 1880 (although Ella took a brief hiatus in the 1980’s). See Popular Baby Names.
In 2007, 38 couples chose these baby names for their twin girls. See Popular Names of Twins. Individually, both are popular names, with Ella ranking #21 and Emma ranking #3 in 2007. See Popular Baby Names. The combination of Ella and Emma is a great one for people who like popular names that have also been around for a very long time.
Famous people who share the baby name Ella include Ella Fitzgerald, Ella Baker, and Ella Travolta. Famous people who share the baby name Emma include the title character in Jane Austen’s classic, Emma, actress Emma Thompson, and actress Emma Roberts.
Adoption Under One Roof has researched many baby names for you and continues to add more baby names to the list each week. Click here to see a list of baby names that Adoption Under One Roof has covered on its site, including links to more information about each baby name. The baby names are divided by topic and gender.
