Tom Cruise on Adoption: "My adopted children are my own children”

As with most adoptive parents who happen to be in the spotlight, and happen to have biological children as well as having adopted a child, or children into their family, Tom Cruise has come under fire in recent months, with those loving to cause trouble and stir the pot claiming that he treats his two adopted children with actress Nicole Kidman, differently than his biological daughter with wife, Katie Holmes.

This seems to be an insult that everyone having both adopted and biological children must face at one point or another in their lives, celebrity or not, celebrities simply get the misfortune of having it plastered on newspapers, web pages, and the minds and lips of the world, instead of just at the water cooler, or the mom’s group by the jungle gym.

My adopted children are my own children," [Cruise] declared.

There is no separation in that for me whatsoever. There's no way there is any difference and anyone who has adopted would say the same.                 -News24.com

Why is it that the world has such a hard time grasping the possibility of loving children whom are not biologically related to you? No one blinks twice about falling in love with a stranger when searching for a spouse. Loving an adult is never questioned. Having a huge extended family full of friends and neighbors is fine; they can all be loved and treated as family without question. So why is it that adding a child to the mix suddenly confuses the masses?

They just don't get it. It's a simple concept.
Maybe if they went down the adoption path they'd understand better.

I love both of my children with 100% of my heart and so does Hubby,Grandparents and all. No difference between our adoptive and biological children in our family. I assume this to be the case in most families, if not all.

Grrr

Why is it adoptive parents have to explain this to the world? What a sad commentary. I remember when Tom's wife was pregnant all the papers saying "finally, he has a child OF HIS OWN!" In my opinion those tabloid writers are just creeps and lowlifes.

It's like in every story they say Tom's "adopted" child/children. Why can't celebrities' adopted children just be called their children?! This makes me so mad.
