It has been a while since I blogged about adoption baby names. (Sorry about that!) I haven’t decided on a new theme yet, but I wanted to get back to covering baby names. So, I decided to use Think Baby Names’ Random Baby Names Generator and see what popped up. That was kind of fun, so I might just go with a random theme for a few weeks.

The baby name Philip is of Greek origin and can also be spelled Phillip. The baby name is a Biblical name because Philip was one of the 12 apostles.

The baby name Abigail is of Hebrew origin. Abigail was one of King David’s wives in the Old Testament. You can read the story of David and Abigail in I Samuel 25.

The baby name Abigail has only become very popular in recent years. The baby name Abigail ranked #492 in 1880 but dropped off the charts altogether by 1898. The baby name made its way back into the Top 1000 a few times in the early 1900’s but then dropped off completely until 1939. In 1949, the baby name ranked #822 and slowly began increasing in popularity.

The baby name Naomi has been steadily growing in popularity over the last 15 years, moving from #240 in 1993 to #124 in 2007. See Popular Baby Names. A friend of mine has a daughter named Naomi. It is really cute when her little friends call her “Omi” because they cannot pronounced the whole name.
