What do you say to your children?

I read this blog today.This is the second one in as many days.  I do realize that this is a foster care adoption situation.  I know that in itself qualifies differently than my own experience as an infant adoption adoptee.  My own adoptive mother would not allow me to be disrespectful of my first mother.  We still do not know what the full circumstances of what happened in my story.  She hates it that I hurt but she is okay with my turning on the adoption industry as a whole. She does not want my first mother dissed in any shape or form.  She made that very clear from the get go. It helped that I had a couple of first mothers come into my life when I was forming my opinion on my adoption.  This was years prior to my search.

Proposed Bill: Birthparent Assistance Act of 2008

A bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives that would provide funding to pay for post-adoption counseling and other services for birth parents. H.R. 5640, which is called the Birthparent Assistance Act of 2008, would appropriate $30,000,000 during fiscal year 2009 to provide these services. The bill also calls for establishing a national hotline to provide counseling and other related services for birth parents.

The agency through which we adopted our son offers a similar service.

Talking Badly about Birth Parents in Front of Adopted Child

I spent some time this morning catching up on comments that were posted over the weekend. Some of the comments that were posted on our Giveaway message got my hackles raised, so I am climbing up onto my soapbox. I agree with what the readers posted about what needs to change in the adoption world and want to expound upon those comments on my blog.
