The baby name Isaiah is of Hebrew origin. Isaac was the son born to Abraham and Sarah in the Bible. They had been unable to conceive a child and were very old when men of God told Abraham that Sarah would bear him a son. The baby name Isaac has been in the Top 400 since the United States began tracking baby name trends. The baby name ranked #62 in 1880. The baby name gradually lost popularity, bottoming out at #379 in 1967. The baby name Isaac then began climbing back up the charts, breaking into the Top 200 in 1977 and then the Top 100 in 1995. In 2008, the baby name ranked #37. In addition, the baby name was a #7 twin baby name (with Isaiah) in 2008. See Popular Baby Names.
